The pitt or gallodrome is a placeholder to breeders of fighting cocks and big bettors. It is the Spanish who introduced this activity in the Guadeloupean culture. In 1984, approximately 70 Pitts worked in Guadeloupe. Currently only 30 are active. Some punters have lost even their homes to cockfight!
