The Saint-John Perse Museum is located in the old town between the dock and the central market of Pointe-à-Pitre. It occupies the former home of the directors of the plant also known as Villa Darboussier Sousques-Pages. Metal frame architecture reminiscent of New Orleans, this building was declared a historic monument in 1979. The museum, which opened May 31, 1987 by the City of Pointe-à-Pitre, is a literary museum, controlled by the Directorate of Museum of France, dedicated to the Nobel Prize for Literature.
