La Soufriere, known as the "old lady", is an active volcano located in Guadeloupe, in the national park of the same name, in the southern island of Basse-Terre. The town of Basse-Terre, the capital of the overseas department is located ten kilometers south-west and the Carbet falls on its eastern flank. This is the only active volcano on the island, now the rest state eruption.
La Soufrière is part of a set composed of volcanic volcanoes Carmichael, broken nose, the scale, the tank and the Madeleine. This is one of nine active volcanoes in the Lesser Antilles.
