The silhouette of the massive Fort Delgrès successively called Fort Royal, Fort Richepance and Fort St. Charles, property of the Department, listed building since 1977, is looming on the input from the capital, Basse Terre. This is the fortified house, built around 1650 by Charles Houel, then governor of Guadeloupe and Senechal is the starting point of its construction. It housed jusq'en 1950 housing for NCO, before becoming a space for the future Museum of the History of Guadeloupe. Meanwhile, exhibitions are regularly organized. A report in the area called Bastion of Galion, the military cemetery where lie the General and Admiral Richepance Gourbeyre.
