Palais Saint-Georges

35000 RENNES

The Palace St. George is a building in the city of Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine. It is built on the site of a Benedictine abbey of the eleventh century, and kept its name of "St. George". The Abbess Magdalena de la Fayette presided over its construction in 1670 by Pierre Corbineau.
The Palace St. George became a barracks for the French Revolution. It now houses the barracks of the firemen and administrative services of the city. A French garden extends to the front.
