Created at the end of the First Empire and open to the public in 1814, the Marine Museum of Toulon is installed since 1981, next to the clock tower of the arsenal, one of the few historical sites of the city to have survived World War II. True memory of the arsenal of Toulon he retains the majestic monumental gateway dated 1738, the museum illustrates the maritime tradition in the Mediterranean by an exceptional collection of model ships and galleys. Collections trace the evolution of the port since the wooden shipbuilding of the eighteenth century until the advent of steam battleships and naval vessels of the twentieth century.
