The museum, founded in 1888 by the employers and workers in La Couture-makers Boussey, was to keep all the woodwind instruments, spare parts, raw materials and tools used in the manufacture of these instruments. It should also be used to record the history of musical instruments in La Couture as in other manufacturing centers, and to facilitate the workers and patrons of all study theory and practice of vocational education.
