Built between 1855 and 1857, the Museum of Picardy has several roles. He must collect antiques and relics of the region and should also provide a place of Picardy glory. So it's a palace that rises with beautiful decorations in each room. This is also Puvis de Chavannes who painted the main staircase and galleries on the first floor. The museum has collections ranging from prehistory to contemporary pieces. Four major areas are presented: archeology, medieval sculpture and objects, the sculpture of the seventeenth to the twentieth century painting from the fourteenth to the twentieth. From 1983 until 1993, the museum has undergone extensive renovations of its spaces. Contemporary artists have also participated in the modernization. Concerts, conferences and visits are started so that everyone can understand these works.
