The museum of the monastery was established from the works entered in the churches and monasteries. These were stored in the church of the Dominicans and inventoried by the local painter Charles-André Caullet. During the nineteenth century, the collections are enriched and diversified: the sculptor in 1852 Theophile Bra gives the studio collection, Dr. Escallier bequeathed in 1857 a group of 176 Dutch and Flemish paintings; Foucques of Wagnonville donated his collection assembled in Italy, Jean-Baptiste Fortier left a sum of money to buy works by Veronese, Rubens and Courbet.
