Lion de Belfort

The Lion of Belfort is a monumental sculpture by sculptor Frederic Bartholdi of Alsace, located in Belfort in France at the foot of a cliff. It commemorates the resistance of the besieged city by the Prussians during the War of 1870, after which the area corresponding to the current Belfort is the only part of Alsace to remain French.
