The lake of Lacanau, (20 km ²) whose surface is located above sea level, is fed by small rivers (or Crastes) draining the Médoc.
Located about 12 km of ocean beaches, Lacanau town dominates the middle of the eastern shore of the lake.
Lacanau town houses on the lake side a pretty little marina adorned with benches, flower-beds, games for children and a jetty.
A 2 km north of Lacanau city, the neighborhood is home to some of Talaris gated by the forest and a beautiful marina nestled among the pines.
The northern part of Lake Lacanau is dominated by the district Moutchic.
Busy throughout the summer, The Moutchic has a long and beautiful beach, part of which is covered with grass and another lined with white sand (parking nearby).
The district Carreyre, quiet and wooded, borders the upper part of the western shore of the lake.

Here, the area around the lake offer diverse scenery. Succeed and the beach of Great Escoure with the sailing club and the small beaches and tree of discrete Nerpa, interspersed with clumps of reeds, and finally the vast wilderness of Longarisse that extend to the tip of Bernos.
Unlike the southeastern shore of the lake, whose rough contours remain very difficult to reach the south-west is home to a wide contrast marked trail to explore in peace one of the wildest parts of Lake Lacanau.
From Longarisse, this trail winds through the waters of the lake, where reeds and water lilies alternating, and high forested dunes from which the lake is revealed as none other locations
