Lac d'Aydat

Aydat Lake is the largest natural lake in the Auvergne. It is a volcanic dam lake. The emergence of the lava flow (the Cheyre) of puys Cow Lassolas and locked the Veyre River, blocking the flow of water and creating a natural restraint. The island located near the north shore called holy Sidonius, in memory of Bishop Sidonius Apollinaris who had a Roman villa by the lake.

Located in a remarkable wooded, the lake's environment is conducive to pleasant walks (around the lake is 5.5 km).
