Juno Beach - plage du débarquement de Normandie

Juno Beach was the code name of one of the main beaches of the Allied landings in Normandy June 6, 1944 during the Second World War. It is situated between Sword Beach and Gold Beach, and extends from Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer in the east to halfway between the villages of La Rivière-Saint-Sauveur and Courseulles-sur-Mer in the west.

His decision was assigned to the 3rd Canadian Division commanded by Major-General Keller. She was the second best fortified beach after Omaha Beach. The German General Richter commanded the 716th Division guarding the beach with 11 155 mm guns and 9 of 75 mm. This unit was composed mainly of adolescents under age 18, men over 35 and veterans of the Russian campaign that received debilitating injuries, reducing to some extent the difficulty of the task for Canadians .
