The Dune du Pyla (also spelled "Pilat") is the highest dune in Europe.

Located at the southern entrance of the Arcachon basin, it covers 500 m from east to west and 2.7 km from north to south and contains about 60 million cubic meters of sand. It depends on the territory of the French commune of La Teste de Buch, near Arcachon (Gironde), in the heart of the Landes de Gascogne. Dune maritime mobile, it moves inexorably toward the interior of the country and its altitude varies constantly, while oscillating around 100 to 117 meters above sea level
