Born in 1854 at the dawn of machinery, the factory was one of the largest in France in 1900 (80 workers). Battered by war and the rural exodus, it was nearly extinct in 1979. Revived and saved by the son of the workers, it became a national curiosity, ranked among the 200 most amazing sites in France.
