From a medieval manor, the Hermits of St. Augustine built a monastery and a church in the early fifteenth century.
During the seventeenth century, the convent was redesigned and the enclosure, surrounded by a dry stone wall, was enlarged. Following the expulsion of the religious at the time of the Revolution, half of the cloister, the church and bell tower, were killed.
The Tourist Office Champlitte (tel: 03 84 67 67 19) includes the convent part of his tours of the town.
