The castle dates from the twelfth Oricourt, fifteenth, and eighteenth centuries. This is the castle the best preserved of Franche-Comte.
The castle, surrounded by deep ditches still about ten meters, is protected by a double enclosure, connected by a tower 25 m high. The first wall encloses the yard and the second the high court. In the latter, there are caves, a bakery, a well and a dining room.
The most famous owner has seen the castle was Nicolas Rolin, chancellor of Burgundy in the fifteenth century, founder of the Hospices de Beaune and immortalized by Jan Van Eyck in "The Virgin of Chancellor Rolin" in the Louvre.
A medieval festival is organized every year the first weekend in July to finance the restoration of the castle, begun in 1969.
