Château de Saint-Amand en Puisaye

58310 SAINT-AMAND EN PUISAYE

The castle of Saint Amand en Puisaye is one of the most important Renaissance castles in the Nivernais. It was rebuilt around 1530 by Antoine de Rochechouart, son of a chamberlain of King Francis the first, on the site of a feudal fortress probably destroyed by the Duke of Burgundy when he, in 1402, invaded Auxerre.

The castle now houses a museum dedicated to the pottery business, which made the reputation of the region.
