Around one thousand, Touraine is coveted by two lords: the Count of Anjou, Fulk Nerra, and the Count of Blois, Eudes I. At the end of the tenth century Fulk Nerra conquered the site of Langeais, between Tours and Saumur. A "castle" is then based on the promontory. All that remains of this set as the remains of the "dungeon".
