The Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Brantome is a former Benedictine abbey founded in 769 by Charlemagne, in the diocese of Périgueux. It was abolished during the Revolution. Today, the abbey church (eleventh to thirteenth centuries), part of the cloister (XIV) and the Abbey of the eighteenth century and still home to two municipal museums.
The abbey church was closed "historical monument" in 1840, the flag-called "body guard" and depending on the round tower of the old abbey were by order of March 2, 1891, the Bridge and three angled Renaissance Renaissance altars, located in the old abbey were by order of January 13, 1912, the cloister of the fourteenth century, the rooms on the ground floor overlooking the cloister, facades and roofing, carpentry and stairs inside the building monastic seventeenth century were not classified in 1957 (decree of 19 February 1957).
