The Bar Convent Guest House

Situated in the heart of York, The Bar Convent Guest House is only a 15-minute minute walk from the city centre and just over 300 metres from York Railway Station. The Grade I listed building offers an exhibition on the history of the site, a garden and free WiFi.

The Bar Convent Guest House offers both en suite rooms and rooms that share a bathroom. Tea/coffee making facilities, and a hand basin is provided in each room at The Bar Convent Guest House, as well as toiletries.

Breakfast is served in the on-site café, where guests may enjoy a well-stocked continental buffet breakfast including fresh fruit, pastries, toast and cereals or upgrade to our award-winning full English breakfast. Breakfast is served until 10:00 on a weekend, and until 9.30 from Monday to Friday.

Many historic sites can be visited within York’s city centre, such as York Minister - one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe. Clifford’s Tower, York Dungeon and the National Railway Museum are also on offer.

Please note that the rooms with shared bathrooms are on a floor accessed by a narrow staircase and there is no lift service.

Please note that between Monday 24th April until Friday 14th July, some essential building work is being progressed in an isolated area of the Centre by a small considerate team. Noise controls are in place from 4pm until 10am each day and this is not expected to cause any major disturbance. We apologise for any minor inconvenience caused during this necessary work, however do please ask to speak to James Foster (General Manager) if he can be of any further assistance
