Saint Sauveur le Vicomte is a commune made up of vast expanses of marshes, an important forest massif and hilly sites.
Located in the very center of Cotentin, Saint Sauveur le Vicomte owes its existence to its strategic location on the banks of the Douve, a river whose floods once isolated the Cotentin peninsula from the mainland.
The castle whose history is marked by a long presence of English troops and the fights of the 100 years war, testifies to the military value of this position.
The castle is classified on the first list of historical monuments of 1840.
Saint Sauveur le Vicomte is a rural town nestled in the heart of the Natural Park of the Cotentin and Bessin marshes and the Land of Art and History of the Clos du Cotentin.
This village is home to the childhood home of the novelist Jules Barbey d'Aurévilly, now transformed into a museum, as well as a magnificent abbey founded in the 10th century.
Saint Sauveur le Vicomte is now a green resort, a nature destination for families and walks with friends.
Our region lends itself to outdoor recreation, in a verdant countryside with very varied aspects: meadows bordered by quickset hedges, forests, marshes with vast expanses, hills from which one discovers astonishing panoramas.
Many activities are offered throughout the year; canoeing, archery, climbing, nature outings, mountain biking (on greenways or in the forest), bike rental, tree climbing course, fishing, medieval festival and many more.
A leisure base is just in front of the house where you can practice many of these activities.
Saint Sauveur le Vicomte is located a few kilometers from the landing beaches of 1944 where many museums tell the story
