At “La Montagne” you will find it’s simple and unassuming, comfortable and relaxing, full of harmony and poetry.
Marie and Rob (an Australian and a tourist guide in Burgundy for 20 years) would like to invite you to come and discover this delightful spot we found in the Morvan countryside… ideal for walks and hiking.
We have created two fine suites in a little house on our property, each with a separate entry, private bathroom and toilet and bedroom.
The two suites open onto a grassy terrace, with sweeping views of the valley below. To spend a summer evening under the stars, a bottle of good burgundy on the table, listening to the song of the nightingale, is magical… You can also stroll in the garden and orchard, and find little nooks for meditation and silence.
The Blue suite : all on one level, with an entry containing crockery and cutlery, wineglasses and corkscrew, electric jug and so on, ready for a cup of tea or a picnic, a bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet on one side and a bedroom with a double bed, whose window looks out over the countryside, and even sheep to count when you go to sleep.
The Russet suite : an entry, a bathroom and a toilet downstairs, and a large cosy attic room upstairs, with a double bed and a single bed.
You will find everything you need for a cup of tea or a picnic, as in the other suite… all the comfort of home.
Breakfast is served around our big kitchen table, or outside under the pergola. A traditional French breakfast with several breads, pastries, fruit juice or fresh garden fruits, butter, our home-made jams, organic Morvan honey, tea, coffee, hot chocolate…
You will find many books and tourist information in the suites.
You will be staying in a “Pays d’Art et d’Histoire”
Bibracte, on the Mount Beuvray, is 20 km away. You can spend an interesting day discovering the Museum of Celtic Civilisation and the archaeological excavations up on the mountain under the old beech trees.
Autun is half an hour away in a car. This town has such a rich heritage : Roman monuments, including the ramparts and gates, a temple and a huge theatre, a 12th century Romanesque cathedral, fine town-houses and a large square.
There is even a Tibetan Buddhist Centre with a Himalayan style temple to visit 5 km away.
There are many other visits and walks to offer. Rob knows the region backwards and can give you all the best tips.
There are restaurants in the surrounding villages.
